THE WRIGHT WAY

With a focus on identifying and treating soft tissue dysfunction, we go well beyond the traditional "cracking & popping" typically associated with chiropractic care. In fact, "cracking & popping" is seldom utilized in our treatment plans and is only included when absolutely necessary to resolve a patient's condition. Our treatment is then married with a guided Home Exercise Plan, aimed at helping patients accelerate their recovery, retain their improvement and avoid exacerbations. Results are rapid and sustainable, with most patients requiring only 2-4 visits to reach their treatment goals.

THE WRIGHT PROCESS

Step 1 - History

Prior to your appointment, Dr. Wright will take the time to thoroughly review your completed intake forms and familiarize himself with your current condition and health history. During your visit, he will ask that you further elaborate on your pain or injury and inquire for additional pertinent information, in an attempt to learn as many details as possible about your condition.

Step 2 - Evaluation

Once Dr. Wright feels he has sufficient background information about your condition, he will conduct a thorough evaluation, incorporating a combination of range of motion, functional movement, neurologic, orthopedic and/or manual muscle testing. These tests will allow Dr. Wright to identify areas of dysfunction and help determine the root cause of your condition.

Step 3 - Review of Findings

Following your evaluation, Dr. Wright will detail the pertinent findings, highlighting the dysfunctional tissues contributing to your condition. He will also provide a diagnosis and outline an appropriate treatment plain, including a tentative list of areas to be treated, the expected number of visits required to reach your treatment goals, and a prognosis for your condition.

If, following your evaluation, Dr. Wright feels your condition would not benefit from our treatment, or could not be appropriately managed by our clinic, he may discuss the possibility of, or necessity for, an imaging or specialist referral.

Step 4 - Treatment

Treatment at Wright Rapid Recovery consists of a combination of varying forms of what is called Manual Therapy; hands-on treatment catered to correct the specific soft tissue dysfunction identified during your evaluation. The primary manual therapy method we utilize is what is called the Fascial Distortion Model. Other methods, used in conjunction with the Fascial Distortion Model, include: Active Release Technique, Post Isometric Relaxation Therapy, Mulligan Technique, and less frequently, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization and/or Joint Mobilization. The main objective of all these techniques is to restore proper function of the Musculoskeletal system, which in turn, helps reduce pain and avoid future injuries or recurring pain.

Practice of the Fascial Distortion Model involves specific, deep pressure applied to the previously identified dysfunctional tissue(s). Due to the nature and depth of this treatment, acute local discomfort is often experienced during your session and post-treatment soreness and/or bruising may occur. During your treatment plan, our goal is to never have to treat the same area/tissue twice. The idea being, if we can identify and begin treatment at the root of your issue, systematically working our way out to your area(s) of pain, we should have no need to duplicate previous treatments, thus expediting your road to recovery.

Step 5 - Functional Rehabilitation (instruction, demonstration and guidance of your Home Exercise Program)

Following your treatment, you will be guided through a concise set of easy exercises that can be performed at home. These exercises will help expedite your recovery and are the key to sustaining your improvement long term. These will not be exercises in the "traditional" sense, such as cardio or strength exercises, but rather exercises focused on myofascial release, tissue lengthening, muscle activation, functional movement, muscle balance, nerve flossing, joint function and proprioception.

We understand that life sometimes gets crazy and performing exercises at home is not at the top of everyone's to-do list. Our goal is to send you home with the least amount of exercises necessary to allow you to retain your improvement for years to come. We will do our best to keep your Home Exercise Plan to 15 minutes or less, in hopes this allows you to fit these exercises into your daily routine.

Pictures, videos, descriptions and parameters for all of your prescribed exercises will be accessible through both the Exercise Portal on our website, as well as by downloading the Wibbi App for Apple or Android.

Step 6 - Kinesiotaping (optional)

Your treatment will conclude with application of Kinesiology tape to treated or injured tissues. Kinesiology tape is a sturdy, stretchy tape designed to provide support while mimicking the skin’s elasticity, allowing you to retain your full range of motion. The tape’s medical-grade adhesive is also water-resistant and strong enough to stay on for three to five days, even while you work out, swim or take showers.

Kinesiology tape can be used to help decrease pain and muscle spasms that may occur after injury, improve muscular firing and contraction patterns, or, if you have a condition that requires a specific joint to be held in place, kinesiology tape can support your joint while still allowing for normal range of motion. If you have swelling from an injury or surgery, kinesiology tape may help decrease the swelling by decreasing pressure between the skin and underlying tissues. Kinesiology tape can also be utilized for management of lymphedema or for superficial contusions (bruises).

Step 7 - Q&A and Post-Treatment Instructions

At the end of your session, Dr. Wright will be sure to answer any questions you may have. He will also detail post-treatment instructions regarding icing and exercise frequency, expectations for soreness and bruising, anticipated improvements, activity limitations and recommendations, as well as outline what is to be treated and/or evaluated at your next session.
